A Very Big Announcement

Call me Ishmael.

After almost 18 years in our current location, 2026 opened up with the certainty that we needed to find a new home for Bang. Setting up a commercial space is tough and expensive, not necessarily in that order. I viewed a few places that were less than inspiring, but there was one I loved it right away. My only concern was that I would be making an emotional decision. And emotions came, I assure you. The fight to secure the space spanned months of negotiation, stress, and strife. It became my white whale.

While our on-again, off-again negotiations were taking place, I also had to come to terms with the expense of moving, renovations, and making things a reality. On the advice of one of our members, I decided to try to raise the funds we’d need internally – as a community-based loan. And, FRIEND, people really showed up. We put together well over $100K, based on support and good vibes. We can build the things we want to see in this world and I’ve been regularly blown back by the support and encouragement I’ve received. We have a real community at Bang and I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of it.

Anyone who sees with me regularly has been receiving weekly updates. About 50% of these have simply been me rocking back and forth on the floor. Week by week, month, by month, the drama has unfolded. However, after endless negotiating and frustration (as well as hope, support, and a big stack of cash), we’ve finally secured it. It’s wonderful. A real unicorn.

I’ll trickle out the details over the next few weeks – purely for dramatic purposes. But I can tell you a few things:

  • We’ll be there as of August 1st
  • It will be near King and Niagara
  • The address is 83 Walnut Ave – near the southeast corner of Stanley Park
  • You’re going to love it
  • Oh, and there’s going to be a party

The timing is still a bit up in the air. We’ll be moving over the month of July but will flip the location switch at least a few days before that. We’ll make sure to shout it loud and clear as soon as we can confirm.

The move is also a good time to make a few updates. I’ll send out the details in a separate email early next week.

Thanks for all the hugs, kind words, and kind actions! And if you want to tease out a couple more details – or lock down a training time before things get busy – let me know.
